Souls for sale, so far...

I began a storm of a collection which I intended on being a small exhibit for by-passers. Now I want to stage it for the art to really sell their stories as they become completely relevant. here is a brief overview on my thought processes behind some of the pieces so far...

dark backgrounds and vibrant flowers, representing the souls of our times and how we sell them to our damned society. the whole idea is that our souls are eternal and pure, yet we still struggle to identify with our true selves amongst corruption, so we often damage our souls in some way.

This piece is really showing the truest demons we carry with our souls. this piece is really about our darkest demons, trying to burn away our pain and detaching ourselves however, our ghosts are part of who we are, our shadows in the dark we learn to live with. I like how the person in the art work is using a measly match to burn its soul, it really shows how something small can start a raging fire within us.

we often associate our traumas with people who are closest to us. after all, they were the ones who got closest to our souls. this piece is the most delicate in the collection, the soul is almost bound by the hands of those who hurt us. it is really up to ourselves to let go of those lessons that no longer serve us.

arguably the most striking piece is that of the person who's soul is clouded by smoke and mirrors. rejection is something that everyone is faced with yet no one talks about the pain and efforts of rebuilding your soul to standards that are rarely met in this day and age. the smoke is what stops our souls from being seen and heard, as insecurity often wins.
